NEW DESIGNER CRUSH…

Love Sophie Albou’s Fall/Winter 2012 Paul & Joe collection.  Leopard print is always a Sequinlala favorite and I love her mix of prints and textures.  Will definitely be using these as style inspiration ASAP!

LADY GAGA + STUDS = LOVE

Some would say my obsession with Lady Gaga is a little out of control.  As in the type of obsession that compels me to dress as her in the Just Dance video to go to her concert.  So obviously, anything that involves her and studs is right up my alley.  What I love about these images, is in essence what I love about her: Her ability to push boundaries by staying totally committed to her personal style.

She takes arguably the most coveted bag in the world, an Hermès Birkin, and studs it herself (and by herself I mean someone in the Haus).  One website’s caption to this photo was actually “Gaga destroys a Birkin”.  Destroys?  They obviously do not subscribe to the same philosophy on embellishment as Sequin Lala.  Fools.  Its amazing!!!

The other photos are of Ms. Gaga shopping at Chanel.  Love it.  Hopefully she didn’t want to try anything on.  I hear people all the time say things like “Where am I wearing this, I don’t do anything”.  Maybe a chastity belt and veil seems a little far fetched for the average girl to wear to the grocery store, but why does it have to be jeans and an old tee shirt?

BIRTHDAY WISH LIST!!!

Watch: Michael Kors Rose Gold “Dylan” $250

Bag: Chloe “Aurore” Printed Calf hair bag $2975

Jeans: J Brand waxed Skinny $198

Shoes: Sam Edelman “Lorissa” $200

My birthday is very quickly approaching and I have been starting to put together a list for about a month now, just in case anyone asks what I would like.  Now when I say wish list, I do realize that the Chloe bag is one big giant genie sized wish, that unless I come across some weird looking, yet magically enhanced antique lamp at a garage sale, probably won’t come true.  But a girl can always dream right?  Maybe every person I’ve ever met will pitch in $10 for me.   As for the things that I could actually receive, I am probably most longing for the watch.  I am falling hard for everything rose gold!  This watch is so classic, too.  Not too much bling (which I know goes against my normal philosophy) and just over sized enough to maybe be a men’s watch.  The only two watches I have ever worn have been mens.  I love having a big watch on a small wrist.

The thing I have really been lusting after all fall is a pair of leather leggings, but some how nothing quite stacks up to the Row “Kinsey” leggings.  Too bad I don’t have an extra $1600 laying around.  These J Brand skinnys are pretty insane though! If they look familiar, they are the same ones that Sandra Bullock wore to the Teen Choice Awards this year. They look like leather even from two feet away, and don’t require another one of my genie sized wishes.

Last, but not, least the shoes.  Rhinestones and studs on one shoe?  What else do I even have to say?

Top: Thrifted

Studded Belt: Thrifted

Cargos: Sanctuary

Booties: L.A.M.B.

Feather Ring: Forever 21

Black Ring: Melanie’s (small jewelry shop in STL)

Sorry about the darkness of the photos, but I am already tired of taking pictures in my apartment.  9pm had to do.  As for these shoes, I genuinely stalked them for about three months.  I would stop by and say hello to them, casually walk by the store to see if they were still there, and tried them on about five times too many for someone who was clearly not going to buy them.  UNTIL I DID BUY THEM!!!  Two markdowns and an extra discount later and they were at last mine!!!  Anyway, back to everything else I am wearing in this picture.  I have been playing around with wearing multiple giant rings lately, and needless to say I am a fan.  I have had this black ring since high school I think.  The feather is a more recent addition, but it has been getting a lot of play lately.  I promise I will try to wear more color soon!

DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

Necklace:  “L” initial necklace Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co

Earrings: Cheap CZ drops from Nordstrom (approx. $14)

I change my accessories and clothing quite often, but these two things almost never leave my body.   I even sleep in them.  The necklace was a gift from my Aunt Sis, who is one of my two aunts that are Catholic nuns.  Now, under normal circumstances, they could never afford to buy me this nice of a gift.  However, my aunt (as all nuns are) is a queen of re-gifting.  Someone had given her a beautiful pen from Tiffany as a gift when she was the principal of a grade school in New York City.  I was there the summer after I graduated high school attending my college orientation.  I was going to hang out with her one day, when she said we should go exchange the pen for a graduation gift for me.  After about 30 seconds of my best acting skills and at least one “oh I couldn’t possibly”, we were on our way up 5th Ave.  We picked out this necklace and I pretty much haven’t taken it off since (which has been quite a few years now).

Several years later, I accidentally broke the chain when it some how got caught in my hair.  I had been meaning to get it replaced, but just never got around to it.  A couple of months later, Christmas rolled around and my boyfriend bought me a new one.  His whole family just about passed out with excitement when I pulled out a little blue box, only to be very disappointed to find out it was not, in fact, an engagement ring.

I probably get more compliments on these earrings, than I do any other thing I own.  For being so inexpensive, they look really good.  I have been looking for another back up pair for a while now, but I am afraid this might be it.  Maybe one day I will be able to replace them with the real deal!

WORK OR BACHELORETTE PARTY????

Top: Thrifted

Skirt: BCBG

Bootie: Steve Madden

Necklace: Buffalo Exchange

Ring: ??? from Nordstrom

What’s nice about my job is that I pretty much can wear whatever I want.  What’s sad about my memory is that I can’t quite remember if this particular picture is from work or one of my college friends bachelorette parties, where I wore basically the same thing.  I’m 93% its work.  Either way, I love this bandage skirt!!  Even though white horizontal stripes can be scary, I think its working out.  The black silk tee is great too, and it looks good with everything.  Also, you will see in posts to come that I wear this ring all of the time.  It falls into the sequin, stud, rhinestone, or chain category that I pretty much have to be wearing one of at all times.  (Again, sorry for no smile.  See earlier post)

RANDOM WORK DAY

Shirt:  Target (boys department)

Faux Leather Mini:  Thrifted

Belt: h&m

Bracelet: Buffalo Exchange

Ring: ????

Shoes: Jessica Simpson

I had been looking for a leather mini for quite some time, so I was super excited to find one for less than $5.  You can’t really tell from the photo, but the skirt is really short, so I was trying to make it the most work appropriate I could with some long sleeves.  The shirt is actually a left over from a serving job (aka waiting tables dressed like a man).  Please forgive the no smiling in pictures.  I have a gut reaction to make a kissy, pursed lips face whenever I see a camera. I am desperately trying to fight it, hence, no smile.
